For over 150 years British East Africa has captured the hearts and minds of countless explorers and hunters, their stories filling the pages of African hunting's most treasured literature and captivating countless hunters from all over the globe. Today the opportunity for sportsmen to put themselves in the footsteps of those famed hunters & explorers and relive the Golden Age of Safari still exists in the Dark Continent.

Tanzania is a diverse country, from the arid semi-desert of Masailand famous for the Masai warriors of old as well as its numerous unique gazelle species, to the floodplains of the Moyowosi with its famed black-maned lions. The bulk of safaris take place in the Selous Game Reserve, the benchmark for African Big Game hunting, where clients are able to hunt 3 buffalo on the license as well as the Big 4. Having access to a number of concessions throughout the country, we are able to constantly keep in touch and have first-hand knowledge of the conditions in the different areas and thereby outfit a safari tailored to each client's needs.

On arrival in Dar es, Salaam clients will be met by our team who will assist in clearing customs and then transferring to the Domestic airport if hunting in the Selous Game Reserve or a connecting flight will be taken to Arusha if the hunt is taking place in Masailand. From here all rifles, supplies and luggage will be loaded onto the charter aircraft. After takeoff clients are able to experience the Tanzania wilderness from the air with flights generally taking 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on which block is being hunted. After arrival, a short ride to camp is taken in the hunting vehicles to the camp which serves as home for the duration of the safari. Time allowing rifles will be sighted in before dark, with hunting commencing early the following morning.

Superb catering and comfortable accommodations make time spent in your camp almost as memorable as the hunting adventures embarked upon during the safari. Combine this with old school hunting on foot along the rivers and through the plains of Africa's finest hunting grounds and you have the makings of a safari the likes of which there is no equal in today's hunting.

Selous Game reserve

The Selous Game Reserve is a massive 5 million acre reserve in the heart of Tanzania with an equally impressive in size buffer-zone surrounding it. This pristine area may very well be deemed one of the last true wilderness areas of the world housing a staggering number of wild game.

Even though this area is very remote and undeveloped, The Robinson Safari Company offers extremely comfortable lodging with great food and all the necessities you would need.

Lake Natron (Masailand)

This area, located at the centre of Masailand is rich in history and significance. The massive lake Natron is a saltwater lake at the foot of the holy Masai mountain Ol Doinyo Lengai - a nearly 3'000 metre high active volcano. The lake is home to a vast number of wild animals, among wich no less than 2.5 million flamingos.

Game available to hunt is also available in equally impressive numbers. The variety of habitats and eco-systems, ranging from dense forests to wide-open savannahs may be thanked for this. Special species found here included the Lesser Kudu, Gerenuk, Fringed Eared Oryx and also Grant's-, Thomson's- & Robert's gazelle - among plenty of other well-known species.

Hunting Tanzania

If one had to be asked what makes Tanzania such a unique and special hunting location, the answers would be nearly as many as the animals to be found here.

Not only is this a perfect example of how hunting is by far the best method of conservation, but the pure beauty, significance, history, unique species not found anywhere else & the people of Tanzania all come together to create a place where hunters will always return.
